For too long, our communities have faced teacher shortages. Today, we are thrilled to announce a significant stride towards ending that challenge!
The Lead Connect Global team and I had a pivotal meeting with Ms. Ruth Dela Seddoh, the Director-General of the Ghana National Service Authority. Our discussion centered on a powerful collaboration: recruiting more university and training college education graduates to serve as teachers in underserved, understaffed and hard-to-reach communities across Ghana during their national service period. This initiative directly addresses the critical teacher shortages plaguing our villages.
While Lead Connect Global has historically relied on university students for our Voluntary Teaching and Mentorship Program, their shorter terms (around three months) created gaps in consistent educational support. This newly proposed partnership with the National Service Authority aims to bridge that gap, ensuring a continuous presence of dedicated educators year-round. This means schools with few teachers will now benefit from a steady flow of qualified individuals, transforming education for our younger ones.
This is a scale-up of the Lead Connect Global's Community Service Programme: Voluntary Teaching and Mentorship where we recruit, train and deploy graduates to understaffed schools to improve numeracy and literacy skills.
Our principle: no student left behind, no community ignored. We believe in unlocking community potential. As young leaders, we refuse to wait for aid; we are the helpers our communities need.
Our commitment extends beyond traditional teaching. We will now equip our dedicated volunteers with crucial training in adolescent reproductive health, preventing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, teenage pregnancy, child marriage and addressing other harmful practices.
This comprehensive training transforms our volunteers into community mentors. After equipping them with this vital knowledge, they will go into the communities not just as teachers but as guides and advocates. They will serve as mentors, empowering individuals and families with the information and support needed to navigate these critical issues. This ensures they can serve our communities with a holistic approach, far beyond the classroom walls.
This program offers unparalleled opportunities. Volunteers gain teaching experience; ready to be recruited by GES and leadership training, emerging as empowered leaders ready to contribute meaningfully to Ghana's development.
Join us in this mission!
